Cvent promotes women’s advancement through Empower, its women-focused Employee Resource Group, which works to build a more diverse, equitable, and supportive workplace. Empower offers multiple development pathways, including a robust mentorship program with over 90 pairings each year—25% of which involve Director-level or higher sales leaders to specifically support women aiming for leadership roles.

The group also runs career panel spotlights featuring women across sales functions, drawing strong attendance and giving visibility to different career paths. Its ongoing newsletter highlights professional development resources and celebrates promotions, especially new women Vice Presidents. To strengthen community and succession planning, Empower hosts monthly networking events and leads International Women’s Day programming, including leadership panels focused on advancing women in the workplace.

Together, these initiatives create a strong pipeline of women ready for senior leadership positions and reinforce Cvent’s long-term vision for elevating women in sales.

WHAT ARE SOME ESTABLISHED INITIATIVES YOU HAVE IN PLACE TO SPECIFICALLY HELP WOMEN IN SALES PROGRESS IN THEIR CAREER?

Our Empower ERG is the largest and longest-running mentorship program in the company. It has grown to become global in scope and includes all levels, regardless of whether the individual’s career ambition is on a leadership track. We collect interest in the mentor program at the beginning and middle of the year to have a semi-annual match. Our match process includes an automated first pass at matching based on preferences for a mentor or mentee in the leadership track or potentially a peer-level mentorship, within the same department or not, title/band-level, and gender. Our mentorship leads then review individual comments and finalize matching to ensure the outcomes of the pairing will be met. We then produce 2 mentor surveys within the year to judge the success of the program and provide re-matches and possible coaching as requested. We also provide prompts and recommendations to the mentor and mentee on what to discuss in mentorship meetings.

Utilizing feedback from our employees, we have enhanced our maternity leave to offer birthing mothers 12 weeks of paid leave at 100% of their base salaries (or 85% of their OTE for commissioned employees). We also provide a phased return to work program following maternity leave to offer flexibility for mothers returning to work. Additionally, we provide up to 5 days of bereavement leave in the event of a miscarriage or pregnancy loss.
