DISCUSS THE PROGRAMS YOUR COMPANY IS RUNNING RIGHT NOW TO PROMOTE WOMEN IN SALES INTO LEADERSHIP AND HOW THESE PROGRAMS FEED YOUR SUCCESSION PLANNING AND GENERAL SENIOR LEVEL VISION FOR WOMEN IN SALES AT YOUR COMPANY.
Datasite firmly believes in recruiting, hiring, and subsequently promoting talented sales individuals into leadership positions. Within the sales organization, we are proud to report that one-third of the managers are women, all of whom were promoted into their respectiveleadership role. This is a testament to the focus Datasite places on leadership development and the prioritization of creating clear career paths for female sales employees.
Our process for promotion varies but typically starts with a regional Datasite Chief Revenue Officer either witnessing a seller exhibiting leadership qualities or when a seller self-raises an interest in a leadership path. Upon this determination, the seller is invited to management meetings at the CRO’s discretion and is provided with exposure opportunities to develop their skills. Sales managers will work with the seller to put them on a leadership development plan and set specific goals to get them there. Managers may also identify high-potential individual contributors to attend our Manager Essentials training, a course designed to develop Datasite’s leaders. More information about this course is given in the question below.
Another program to highlight is the three-day sales leadership academy. Most recently, thiswas hosted by Sales Enablement for the EMEA regional sales managers in October 2024.The program helped attendees to more precisely define their leadership style and further equip them with tools and strategies to develop and accelerate their sellers’ performance and growth. This growth mindset is a critical asset to seeing the finest sellers move into available sales leadership roles.
The Datasite eLibrary is another resource available to sellers interested in leadership. It serves as a repository for myriad content and resources, offering formats for any type of learner. A quick search for titles containing ‘women’ boasts several resources, including a series dedicated to female leaders with episodes covering topics such as motivation and purpose, networking and connecting, and building confidence. All of this is available to allemployees free of charge, and managers are encouraged to discuss with their team ways of using these resources to help employees navigate their career path with Datasite.
Developing women sales leaders is a key component of Datasite’s broader commitment to workplace gender equality. In alignment with this commitment, Datasite earned the EDGE Assess Certification in 2022. EDGE—Economic Dividends for Gender Equality—is a globally recognized certification and assessment methodology launched in 2011. It provides a standardized framework for evaluating and tracking progress in closing the corporate gender gap across industries and regions. Datasite was recertified by EDGE in 2024, reaffirming ourdedication to gender equity. As part of the recertification process, the company implemented a series of targeted action items to further support women across the organization, including those in sales and sales leadership roles.
Datasite is proud that our C-suite is comprised of talented female executives, including our award- winning Chief Human Resources Officer, Deb LaMere, and our award-winning Chief Operating Officer, Deven Lindemann. Rounding out our Executive Leadership team are threeother senior-level women leaders – Anjali Motiani, Chief Financial Officer, Tammy Schuette, Chief Information Officer, and Jennifer Percy, Treasurer and Executive Vice President of Finance. This highly capable team of women comprise over a quarter of our Datasite Groupleadership team, ensuring women have a voice for strategic decisions made at the corporate level.
DISCUSS YOUR ON-GOING TRAINING AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR THE WOMEN ON YOUR SALES TEAM, AND ERGS THAT SUPPORT WOMEN.
Datasite prioritizes providing a positive employee experience and supports several leadership development programs, including:
–Manager Essentials—A course for all people who lead a team, including our sales leaders. This in-person, two-day intensive class helps managers excel in crafting jobs, developing people, and energizing change, all while working authentically and building trust within their teams. Since the program’s inception in 2021, over 72% of Datasite’s sales leaders have attended Manager Essentials.
—Sellers’ Success Framework—An on-going training program that is available to all sellers. This self-evaluation exercise allows sellers to reflect on three core areas essential for success: industry knowledge, product expertise, and sales skills. The results are aggregated across teams and regions, which are then evaluated by sales trainers to provide insight into areas necessary for further coaching on individual, team, and regional levels. Some examples of training workshops developed as a result of the Framework’s findings include: Negotiating with Confidence, Handling Objections, Pricing Tactics to Maximize Revenue, Time Management, and more.
Team building opportunities are also critical for leadership development for Datasite’s sellers. We offer opportunities and programs throughout the year for our sellers to connect through:
ERGs at Datasite are called affinity groups. Datasite has affinity groups for all employees, which can be created by employees for any number of shared backgrounds or interests. These groups allow for exposure to leadership opportunities in addition to what is available in one’s given day-to-day responsibilities. Specific for women, Women in Technology (WIT) is an ERG that can offer additional opportunities for women to engage and lead, supporting in their desire to advance their careers. We also offer a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council, which includes both presence from sales leadership as well as women from many corners of the business.
Additionally, Datasite hosts quarterly Corporate Social Responsibility events focused on creating connections, encouraging understanding, and cultivating an inclusive environment where every individual can thrive. More examples of these events will be listed in question 6 below.
